Art - Paintings

I have always been involved in art, interior design, jewellery and fashion.

Over the last year, the Covid lockdowns certainly invigorated my creative side and I have started to paint pictures after a break of 22 years. In the late 90’s I used to paint with oil, but I gave it up because I didn’t feel confident in my ability. I began with portraits but didn’t feel the results were very successful. In fact, one of my original portraits has the cubist elements that can be found in my more recent work.

As I matured, I began to find inspiration everywhere I looked, in both the natural and man made world about me, and I have found a style that is closer to me, which reflects my skills and interests, such as perspective drawings with geometric patterns that combine elements of nature. I have changed to acrylic medium primarily because I like the vibrant colours. Secondly, it dries more quickly than oil, making it easier to put more layers on the canvas in a short time. I hope this time I will be more successful.

I have always admired Salvador Dali’s art, love Miro’s minimalism and

Monet’s impressionist landscapes. However, I don’t want to copy them, but instead

prefer to find my own way and produce something more unique, allowing myself to be inspired by these three amazingly individual artists.

I never say never, and maybe one day I will return to oil medium and take a chance again on more realistic representational paintings.
